How to consume responsibly
Avid Smokers, Beware!
*Being an avid cannabis smoker DOES NOT mean you can handle more edibles*
Monitoring how much of an edible or THC you are consuming is key to preventing unwanted effects, such as cannabis overdosing. Most experts say to start slow. It is recommended to start with 2.5 milligrams of THC or less, and wait at least two hours before taking another dose. Edible effects will depend on how often you use cannabis and your tolerance, The Sanctuary, a Sacramento dispensary, advises on its website. It also depends on your body weight, metabolism and type of edible you’re eating. If it’s your first time or you haven’t had an edible in a while, avoid products with 50 to 100 milligrams.
Here’s a basic guideline to edibles and their milligrams, according to Leafly:
1 to 2.5 milligrams - Micro dose for first time and regular consumers.
5 milligrams- Standard use for consumers.
10 milligrams - For high tolerance users.
20 milligrams - For significantly high-tolerance users.
50 to 100 milligrams - For experienced high-tolerance users.
These are just starter doses, according to us. The more often you consume edibles, the more tolerance you will have. Therefore having to increase your dose over time, to maintain a "high" you're comfortable with.
In the mean time, Sit back and enjoy it. Don't rush it, embrace it.
*Fun Fact: A tolerance break (or T-Break) is a great way to reduce your tolerance to edibles.
